When sophomore Savya Churi wakes up in the morning, he doesn’t look at his social media. Instead, his first task of the day is checking the stock market, following his favorite companies through their growth and decay. Whether guiding others through the field of finance with his YouTube channel, MakeFinanceEasy, or investing in the stock market himself, Churi’s dedication to numbers shines through every aspect of his life.
While most enthusiasts start investing in high school or later, Churi began learning about finance as early as six. His father and grandfather explained the risks of investing and how to carefully evaluate various companies. Through their lessons, Churi discovered how to analyze a company by the price-to-earnings ratio and its overall trajectory over the years. Even now, he often observes price ratios at various stores in his community.
“It just always intrigued me,” Churi said. “I’ve always liked the numbers, and I like making predictions for all the numbers in my life.”
After this first exposure, Churi began to invest in the stock market with his grandfather’s guidance and financial support. As he got older, Churi also picked up small part-time jobs, like mowing the lawn for neighbors, to earn money for stock investment.
“The stock market is a very risky thing to play,” Churi said. “But my grandpa was always confident that no matter what, the stock market always has an upward trajectory in the end.”

During the pandemic, many of the companies that Churi initially invested in, like Walmart and Costco, went down with the rest of the market. However, there was one industry that was on the rise. Pharmaceutical companies were rapidly growing as they developed COVID-19 test kits, so Churi threw in his lot with Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson.
“Even though it looked like everything was going down, I thought there must be something that’s going up,” Churi said. “I started finding new opportunities to invest in.”
Churi’s love for numbers extends beyond finance. During baseball games, he often finds himself more drawn to the metrics than the actual gameplay itself.
“I know a lot of people will disagree, but I like focusing more on the stats, analyzing the probability of different actions and making predictions,” Churi said.
Deciding to bring his knowledge and experience to other high school students, Churi started his own finance education YouTube channel Make Finance Easy. He posted his first video in 2023, and has since covered topics like stocks and loans.
“Wherever I go now, I always think about the different scenarios and try to explore my different options,” Churi said. “That’s what inspired me to create my YouTube channel, because I think that other high schoolers should also know the basics of finance.”
