With poses for polaroids, board games laid out on tables and music booming from the dancefloor, students huddled together on the chilly evening of Jan. 24 at Mountain Winery in Saratoga for Winter Formal. Set against vineyard views and stone walls, the “Sunset in Sicily” themed formal marked the last annual winter dance held by Lynbrook until further notice.
“Despite setbacks with ticket sales, ASB Social was pleased with how our last Winter Formal turned out,” sophomore and ASB Social commissioner Adam Salme said. “ASB is still committed to planning more engaging events for students to enjoy.”
Moving freely between the patio and the rustic style dining room, guests were able to pause to try their hand at poker or to get captured at the live sketching station. Nearby, an assortment of snacks, including cookies, fruit and popcorn were available to enjoy while they socialized and warmed up by the fire pits.
Under the twinkling string lights, students savored the last moments of the night and danced in the mosh pit for one final song, closing the chapter of Lynbrook’s Winter Formal tradition.
“The night was really fun and I enjoyed taking photos on my digicam and going back for another plate of the charcuterie board,” sophomore Rebecca Yoon said. “I’m really grateful I was able to attend an event like this, knowing it may have been my first and last.”
