Software for Society Club has started building websites for clubs to use. Led by co-presidents senior Rohan Fernandes and senior Aarush Tiwari, the project aims to provide clubs with a centralized space to display upcoming events and officer information.
The project began in July 2025, when Fernandes and Tiwari discussed ways to apply their club’s skills to support the Lynbrook community. In previous years, club meetings consisted of discussions led by officers about website design and development.
“We really wanted to do something that was beyond presentations,” Tiwari said. “By building actual websites for clubs, we’re helping members share their work and giving them a chance to apply what they learned in a meaningful way.”
Through late January and early February, the co-presidents began reaching out to clubs to see if they would be interested in having a website created for them. They were asked to submit materials such as logos, officer biographies and descriptions of club activities. Submissions were due in February, and development is currently underway as Software for Society members organize the materials and begin constructing the websites.
Members created visual layouts through Figma before translating their designs into fully coded webpages with HTML and CSS. One such club that received a website from Software for Society Club was Poetry Club.
“We’re kind of a newer club, and a lot of Lynbrook people don’t know that we even have a poetry club or don’t think they’d be interested,” senior and Poetry Club co-president Alessandra Wong said. “With a website, they could explore more about what we do and events we host, like our slam poetry open mic, which could help bring more outreach to people.”
Once the layout is finalized, teams of four to five members work together to build each website from scratch, overseen by Fernandes and Tiwari. With careful attention and organization, they help ensure that each website displays accurate information.
“It was definitely a little overwhelming at first,” Tiwari said. “But at the same time, it was really exciting to see something we imagined start to come together despite having to figure everything out along the way.”
The first group of websites is expected to be completed and released within 2 weeks. As development continues, Software for Society, the club hopes to eventually provide websites for all Lynbrook clubs, giving student organizations a consistent and accessible platform to provide information, share events and connect with students.
“Ultimately, we hope to improve communication and create more opportunities between clubs and students, strengthening the Lynbrook community as a whole,” Fernandes said.
