Homecoming: Senior Skit 23-24

As soon as the bell rang, students rushed out of classrooms, eager to find a good seat for the week’s highly anticipated concluding performance — Class of 2024’s homecoming skit. The theme for the senior class had been a mystery on campus until it was revealed on the morning of Oct. 19 as Uncharted Realms, contrary to the fake theme, Boss Baby, that had been hinted at previously.

Throughout the skit, the actors ventured through fantastical worlds that had been featured in past Homecomings by the class: Greek myths, video games and Studio Ghibli. Although their first homecoming performance, themed Greek Myths, was canceled due to COVID-19, it is clear that the seniors were able to bounce back, showcasing their renewed spirit and enthusiasm throughout the performance. As the Vikings embarked on this adventure, they witnessed an exhilarating Mario Kart race, intense rap battle and a heartwarming love story.

Mario, Luigi, Toad and Bowser from their sophomore-year theme joined the skit actors in a race to obtain a prized peach. The Witch of the Waste from the junior-year theme of Studio Ghibli made a reappearance, attempting to drain the life out of a student but ultimately surrendering. These snippets of past years brought back nostalgia for the seniors during their last homecoming season at Lynbrook.

As the skit came to a close, seniors ran toward the stage, huddled closely together, and danced to “Good Time” by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen. After the excited cheers quieted, Class of 2024 gave their final message to Lynbrook, sharing advice they accumulated over the past four years.

“What we have is a story to tell, there’s more to explore in the Uncharted Realms,” the seniors said. “Live, laugh, love, that’s what life is about, this is 2024 signing out.”
