2026 Super Bowl LX MVP and running back Kenneth Walker III rushes down the field, plunging past multiple defenders before getting pushed out of bounds — but not before covering 30 yards, giving his team, the Seattle Seahawks, a huge advantage. On Feb. 8, the Seahawks faced off against the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara for the Super Bowl. From the start to the end of the game, the Seahawks’ defense consistently shut down the Patriots’ offense, cementing their 29-13 victory. Though glad tidings for Seahawks fans, the team’s superb defense doomed the game to a one-sided and ultimately uninteresting match.
From kickoff, the Patriots struggled to push past the Seahawks’ defense, pressuring Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and keeping him from having any substantial impact on the game. Throughout the whole hour of gameplay, they struggled to match the steady pace of the Seahawks, who were completely in offensive control, with players like Walker making effective rushes and quarterback Sam Darnold successfully completing passes while avoiding turnovers.
Another factor in the Seahawks’ dominant performance was kicker Jason Myers, who scored field goals in all five kicks in the game, accounting for 17 of the 29 points scored by the Seahawks. With this remarkable performance, Myers broke a Super Bowl record, becoming the first player in its 60-year history to make five field goals in a single game.
The Seahawks’ win was set in stone when linebacker Uchenna Nwosu scored a 44-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter after taking the ball from Maye. Nwosu’s touchdown widened the score gap to 29-7, making a Patriots comeback unreachable. Although the Patriots made one final touchdown before the end of the game, their inability to elevate their level of play in the previous three quarters condemned their fate.
At no point in the game were the Patriots close to closing the score gap, which was disappointing as expectation for more spectacular offensive plays fell. However, the Seahawks’ defense should be applauded: they recorded 6 sacks and 3 turnovers, maintained a 52.8% pressure rate and only allowed 13 points through. Overall, those looking for competition and excitement were left wanting more.
