Covered in Barbie pink and roaring with cheers, the football bleachers eagerly watched as the Viking football team fought against South San Francisco High School on the night of Friday, Sept. 22. Although the team played valiantly, the Vikings fell to the Warriors by forfeit at a score of 48-0 toward the beginning of the third quarter.
Beginning with a touchdown and keeping their momentum throughout the game, the Warriors were able to break through the Vikings’ defense. Despite attempts to counterstrike, the Vikings had few opportunities to score.
At halftime, Valkyries and cheer brought exciting performances to the field with fast-paced choreography and high-flying stunts.
“We’ve dealt with a lot of injuries since our first game,” head coach Jerome Holloway said. “We had to forfeit today because we had too many injuries, but I’m proud of my team for how they dealt with everything.”
The team’s next game will be at Cupertino High School on Friday, Sept. 29th.
