Five Timeless Summer Songs

Welcome to the start of a new school year. Every Monday, the Epic will be bringing you song suggestions for the week. Today, we start off with five timeless summer songs that will hopefully facilitate the start of your first week of school.

These songs will take you back in time: not only to the past two months, but also to distant decades that we didn’t get to experience, but wish we had. They will clear your mind as you get back to your daily school rhythm, which we all know can be very intense. So whenever you’re feeling stressed, put these songs on and remember that if you want, it can be always summer in your mind.

(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To by Weezer

This song feels like the perfect summer day. It makes you want to get up and run toward the only objective in your mind: to have the best summer day of your life. Preferably walking downtown with your friends, entering all the stores that catch your eye, eating as much ice cream as you can, and ending up in a backyard party with fairy lights and good music.

In The Summertime by Mungo Jerry

This one makes you feel like you’re in the 70’s, road tripping through America in a hippie van with your hippie friends. You can feel the heat of the blazing sun mixed with the cool breeze that blows through your hair, while occasionally hearing the muffled engine of the car between the laughter and joy of you and your fellow mates.

Stuck in The Middle With You by Stealers Wheel

You’re in a “Grease” type movie, and this is the soundtrack of you taking your dad’s vintage car for a spin after school is over for the day. You pick up your best friends and head to the local drive in, where you order milkshakes and eat burgers until you pass out.

Scar Tissue by Red Hot Chili Peppers

This song allows you to smell the salty air as you drive by the ocean and the sun gives the palm trees a golden glow. This glow shines so bright that you find yourself wearing sunglasses while driving  into the sunset.

Santeria by Sublime

Whenever this song comes on, you’ll imagine yourself on the beach. You can hear the waves crashing and a flock of birds flying over the sky. You’re happy. You can feel the cold sand between your toes, as you dance your worries away.
