Greek gods descended to Lynbrook for the Class of 2027’s homecoming on Wednesday. With a theme of “Olympus,” the skit followed students as they find their homecoming equipment stolen by a Wilcox High School student, played by Rowan Sumanaweera and voiced by Scott Qu. Turning to the gods for help, the three main characters journey to Olympus and meet the Greek god Zeus, played by Rohin Samaroy and voiced by Arjun Rana. Upon finding out that the props and costumes were scattered around the world by Hades, the trio must traverse the ocean and the underworld while combating belligerent enemies.
Gods make comical entrances: Poseidon, played by Aarav Karasi and voiced by Michael Fan, receives a bucket of water over his head, while Aphrodite, played by Grace Cho and voiced by Shreshta Ramji, strolls on stage to “Careless Whisper” by George Michael. Dances incorporated both novel tunes and classics — the boys dance used Kanye West’s “Touch the Sky,” the co-ed dance debuted with “Suit and Tie” by Justin Timberlake and the girls dance struck an ending pose on Jennifer Lopez’s “Let’s Get Loud.”
“Our performance honestly succeeded my expectations — coming out and doing everything so well,” junior skit lead Sisir Malasani said. “Everyone was perfect in their role today.”
Kicks and turns set the fight scenes to an exciting pace. Although the heroes lose their first round of combat, they score victory in their second round and retrieve their homecoming materials safely. Finally, before the gods departed, students joined in for their class dance to “Last Friday Night” by Katy Perry.
