On Friday, Sept. 3, the staff skit kicked off Homecoming by telling the timeless story of “Camelot” with a Lynbrook twist. Staff, dressed in colorful, medieval outfits, immersed students in the heroic journey of Arthur of Lynbrook — played by English teacher Joshua Miller — who sought to become a knight of Camelot to strengthen his résumé. Determined to achieve his goal, Arthur entered the tournament for knightship, pitting himself against a crowded pool of contenders, which included the villainous Lady Wilcox, played by art teacher Charlotte Kruk.
After an intense series of competitions involving jousting, magic and riddle-solving, Arthur and Lady Wilcox emerged victorious as the final contenders. In an ultimate sword fight before King Uther Pendragon himself — played by social studies teacher Nhat Nguyen — a chorus of boos erupted from students as Lady Wilcox summoned the aid of her loyal henchmen. Just as Arthur was on the verge of defeat, Lady Lancelot — played by math teacher Sarah Kraemer — came to his rescue, and together, they overpowered Lady Wilcox, banishing her from the kingdom of Camelot.
In a final display of teamwork, the other competitors collectively helped Arthur lift the Excabilur, proving his worthiness as a knight of Camelot. Throughout the skit, elaborate costumes and props such as a cardboard castle added to the theme.
Each class will perform their themed Homecoming skits this week: the Class of 2029 on Monday with the theme of “Radiator Springs,” the Class of 2028 on Tuesday with “Asgard,” the Class of 2027 on Wednesday with “Olympus” and the Class of 2026 on Thursday with a mystery theme.
