Twelve South Asian dance teams from different high schools across San Francisco took the stage at Lynbrook’s theater on Saturday for the American Indo Student Association’s annual Silsilay performance. Combining American hip-hop, Bollywood and Indian classical dance, performers brought energy and creativity to both the afternoon and evening show.
“There’s something so special about seeing all these different teams come together to celebrate our culture through dance,” senior and AISA co-president Athreya Iyer said. “Everyone’s hard work and dedication really showed on stage.”
Before intermission during the afternoon show, Taara dancers were recognized with posters between all the members. In the evening, Jalwa delivered a much-anticipated final performance before seniors from Jalwa, AISA and the emcee team received heartfelt speeches and posters, honoring their contribution and commitment throughout the school year.
All proceeds from ticket sales from Silsilay will be donated to the India Literacy Project, supporting students in India as they build skills for future careers.
