For students attending the homecoming dance on Saturday, Oct. 5, a red carpet heralded the glitz, glamor and gaiety of the “Walk of Fame”-themed night they were stepping into. Sipping on mocktails and sodas and snacking on cupcakes and chips, some savored the experience of their first-ever Lynbrook dance; others, of one of their very last. Attendees captured memories in front of four sets of class homecoming decorations and a celebrity-themed backdrop adorned with their autographs. Many also enjoyed bean bag tosses, table tennis matches and a jewelry-making booth.
“I liked that they gave us the opportunity to have slow dances, and the food stands were really cute,” junior Ishana Subramanyan said. “I’m happy we got time with our friends and got to not think about school for a minute.”
Donning outfits worthy of the A-list and armed with energy befitting the finale of a week’s celebrations, students hit the dance floor to a tracklist that included everything from fresh hits like Chappell Roan’s “Hot to Go” and Travis Scott’s “FE!N” to time-honored classics like Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” and Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat,” featuring Nicki Minaj.
“We were able to organize everything around the theme very well,” junior, class treasurer and ASB Social commissioner Amy Tang said. “The food, celebrity wall and games were all based on the theme. Although we had a tighter timeline since homecoming was moved up, I think overall the event went super well.”
