With the blast of a car’s engine in front of a red-flame-painted backdrop, the Class of 2027 traveled back in time in their skit to look for three missing treasures: microphones, a homecoming crown and a homecoming proposal poster. Journeying into Jumanji, Squid Games and a mystery land, the sophomores filled the quad with laughter and cheers.
While traveling through the dimensions, the travelers were met with boys dance’s dynamic moves, co-ed’s elegant twirls and girls dance’s graceful kicks. Elaborate choreography was interspersed with emotional acting, where each of the characters discovered their own pasts and fought for their futures.
During their journey, however, they faced romantic hardships and encountered trials against the character of El Camino High School’s principal, including love triangles and the dangerous glass bridge from Squid Games. In the end, they retrieved their prized possessions, setting the stage for the juniors in the Squid Games.
“It was a really nice bonding experience, and even though we had to wake up early, I was really excited during and after the performance,” sophomore girls dance member Claire Shao said.
