Sagar Bhatia

While his classmates were running outside and playing tag, in second grade, sophomore Sagar Bhatia was learning about financial literacy and investing in the stock market, inspired by his dad and older brother. As a sophomore, Bhatia has started investing in cryptocurrency, paving the way to streamline globalized transactions and trying to find a way to use his knowledge about cryptocurrency to reduce inflation in certain countries.

“Cryptocurrency is transforming the world into a place where we can combat inflation rates,” Bhatia said. “My goal is to teach as many people as possible about cryptocurrency and what it has evolved into so they can also help combat the change.” 

Not only is Bhatia using his knowledge to invest in NFTs and cryptocurrency but he has also opened a nonprofit outside of school, teaching others about cryptocurrency and the life-size effect it can have on people by bringing them out of poverty. In the future, he hopes to start a club at Lynbrook similar to the business clubs FBLA and DECA. 

Although Bhatia has now mastered the art of investing and cryptocurrency, he has faced various challenges, especially with the fluctuating and unpredictable nature of the stock market, but he remembers that the most important thing about cryptocurrency is that it isn’t about the money, but rather about making the world a better place. 

Bhatia hopes to continue his journey in cryptocurrency and expand it into the Lynbrook culture, teaching more students the art of crypto.
