Jasmine Chen tries her hand at Japanese
Chen’s passion for the Japanese language and culture began in college, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Japanese.
“Although I enjoy Japanese culture, I haven’t used my knowledge in the Japanese language ever since I graduated college,” Chen said.
Chen first started learning Japanese when she had a Japanese boyfriend to converse with him in his mother tongue. She later continued her passion for Japanese culture through her love of watching Japanese shows, especially Japanese dramas.
Taking a Japanese 1 test on Japanese food and drinks that Kitchen provided to her, Chen had a fulfilling experience and remembered the times she watched Japanese shows. She felt carefree and did not have much trouble taking the test due to past experiences in the language and culture.
“I would rate my experience a 5/10,” Chen said. “It was easy for me because I learned Japanese in college, and Japanese is also similar to Chinese.”
